At Copper Star Notary, we want to make your notarization process as smooth and efficient as possible. Whether you're handling important documents for work, a loan, or personal matters, knowing how to prepare will help everything go seamlessly. Here's what you need to know before we meet.
1. Know What Documents You Need
Before your appointment, confirm which documents require notarization. Common documents that we notarize include:
Contracts or agreements
Power of attorney
Wills and living wills
Affidavits and declarations
Real estate documents
Loan documents
Ensure all necessary documents are complete and ready to go. If you’re unsure whether a document needs notarization, feel free to reach out!
2. Bring Valid, Government-Issued Identification
To verify your identity, please bring a valid, government-issued ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:
Driver’s license
State-issued ID card
Passport
U.S. military I
Your ID must be current and include a photo, your full name, and signature. If your ID is expired or doesn’t meet these criteria, the notarization cannot proceed.
3. Sign Documents in Front of the Notary
You will need to sign your documents in front of me. Do not sign anything before your appointment to ensure the notarization process is valid.
4. Complete the Document
Ensure the document you’re bringing is complete and ready for notarization. This includes verifying that all sections are filled out, as blank spaces may prevent us from completing the notarization.
5. Know What Type of Notary Certificate You Need
It’s important to understand which type of notary certificate your document requires. Whether it's a jurat, oath/affirmation, or acknowledgment, the type of certificate is crucial. The person or company requiring the notarization (or your attorney) can specify which certificate is needed. I am unable to advise or assume which certificate is required, so please make sure you know the correct type.
6. Payment and Fees
Payment for your notarization is required either at the time of booking through my website or at the time of the appointment if scheduled outside of my website. Depending on your appointment, this may require a deposit or full payment. I accept cash, credit cards, and digital payment options.
7. Remote Online Notarization (RON) Options
If meeting in person isn’t an option, I also offer Remote Online Notarization (RON). For RON, you’ll need access to a computer or smartphone with a camera and a stable internet connection. As with in-person notarizations, you'll still need a valid ID and to have your document ready.
Ready to Schedule a Notarization?
I’m here to make your notarization process as straightforward as possible. To schedule your appointment, simply use the booking feature on my website or reach out via the contact options available. Let’s get your documents notarized today!
